The new MXT2912TD-UW
Automotive touchscreen controller is aimed at large very wide aspect ratio
displays up to 40”, used in modern car HMI systems. The trend for multiple
touchscreens as well as the combination of the Central Information Display with
either the cluster or the co-drive display continues. Displays and touchscreens
are getting larger and significantly wider.
The MXT2912TD-UW reduces the
need for multiple touch controllers within a vehicle’s human machine interface
(HMI) display. This single chip touch controller provides the highest report
rate for wide displays and is independent of the display resolution, helping achieve
the same user experience that has become accustomed with the smart phone. Also
supported by the exceptional maXTouch family’s intrinsic signal-to-noise ratio
(SNR), the MXT2912TD-UW enables detection and tracking of multi-finger thick
gloves through a wide variety of overlays.
It also supports the operation
when fingers or surfaces are wet or moist, whilst preventing the water from
being detected as a false touch event. This technology also enables adaptive
touch utilizing self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance measurements so all
touches are recognized and false touch detections are avoided.
Microchip’s new signal shaping technology lowers
emissions significantly and ensures that large touchscreen solutions based on
the MXT2912TD-UW meet the CISPR-25 Level 5 requirements for electromagnetic
interference in Automobiles.
The controller also incorporates enhanced self and
sensor diagnostic functions, which constantly monitor the integrity of the
touch system. The MXT2912TD-UW device brings these smart diagnostic features
in support of the Automotive Safety Integrity Level as specified in ISO26262.
