How many types of automotive chips are there?

Automotive chips can be divided into three categories: functional chips, power semiconductors, and sensors. Automotive functional chips mainly refer to processor and controller chips. If you want a car to drive on the road, it cannot do without the electronic and electrical architecture for information transmission and data processing. The control system of a car mainly includes body electronic systems, vehicle motion systems, powertrain systems, infotainment systems, autonomous driving systems, etc. There are many sub-functions under these systems, and behind each sub-function There is a controller, so there will be a functional chip inside the controller. It can be seen that functional chips are crucial to cars.

Power semiconductors are the core components of electric energy conversion. They are mainly responsible for power conversion and are mostly used in power supplies and interfaces, such as IGBT power chips for electric vehicles. This kind of chip does not have any functionality and is mainly responsible for inverter, frequency conversion, etc., so power semiconductors are usually used in automobile power control systems, lighting systems, fuel injection, chassis safety and other systems.

Speaking of sensors, everyone must be familiar with them. In fact, they are the input device of the car's computer system. There are often vehicle speed sensors, oxygen sensors, tire pressure sensors, water temperature sensors, electronic accelerator pedal position sensors, etc. in cars. Especially the self-driving car, which has been selling hotly in the automobile market recently, is actually the master of automotive chips. Its self-driving chip is actually an electronic functional chip with extremely powerful computing power.

All in all, automotive chips mainly fall into three categories: functional chips, power semiconductors, and sensors.
